Shaman’s Blog replaces Shamanic Connection’s Newsletter

downloadOne of Gary’s and my “resolutions” for 2015 is to streamline some of our activities to allow time for more new adventures, play and rest.

As promised in our Winter Newsletter,  we have just moved our newsletter mailing list over to the Shaman’s Blog mailing . Now, you will begin to receive an email when Shaman’s Blog has new posts. This email will come out on Friday. You will only receive this email IF a new blog is posted, and if by some strange reason, more than one blog goes out in a week, you will still only receive one email.

Moving to posting the blog only will same me some work, and you will actually hear from us more frequently. Here’s the low down from the Winter Newsletter (in case you missed it  😉 ). This tells you how to connect with us in other venues as well as how to “disconnect” should you choose. Continue reading

Navel Chakra Stones

I’ve finally managed to get this blog posted. Between the holidays and other projects, I’ve been a VERY busy girl. The new mobile-friendly website for Shaman’s Marketplace is finally launched. Then, we went to fix a heat vent in the bathroom and wound up gutting it and are in the process of renovating it. NOT on the to do list!

So, as promised, better late than never …

We referenced a variety of stones for the navel/sacral chakra in the blog Chakras 101 – The Second or Navel Chakra. Some gemstones often associated with the Navel Chakra are Carnelian, Coral, Agate, Orange Calcite, Amber and Moonstone.

Chakras 101 – The Second or Navel Chakra

NavelI can’t believe a month has gone by already. I’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on a project that should be unveiled next week (I hope), and it’s been keeping me pretty busy. But I promised that I would get the next chakra blog out this week, and it’s only Friday, so it’s still this week:-)

As we move on from the root chakra to the 2nd Chakra or Navel Chakra, we transition from survival (what we need to live as in the root chakra) to pleasure … play, joy, creativity, sexuality, nurturing and change. The second chakra is also referred to as the Sacral Chakra. In Sanskrit this chakra is called Svadisthana or Swadhisthanna.  It’s located about two inches below the navel and is rooted into the spine.

Key words for the navel chakra are … creativity, feelings, pleasure, vitality, sexuality, intimacy, emotional balance, change, joy and friendliness. Continue reading

The Attitude of Gratitude

Thanksgiving-Day-Baskets-2As Thanksgiving (or Turkey Day, as it’s called at our house) rolls around, we begin to look over the past year and see what’s in our basket of blessings. For Gary and I we have much to be grateful for this year…you – our wonderful friends, family, our peaceful place at Shaman’s Grove, and simply being alive.

Most of us can easily ponder on the many blessings that fill our basket. But we also have another basket – a burden basket. Continue reading

Grab A Drum And Drum For Your Health

drumCirclepngI’m sneaking this blog in between the first and second chakra in the series. This article was forwarded to me by a friend, and it really does fit into the chakra series. How you ask…well read on.

Dave’s list is all the things that we tell folks at our drum circles, and I thought we’d pass it on. And why recreate the wheel – it’s a good article. So, with Dave’s permission here is his article on the benefits of drumming…

Root Chakra Stones

For the next few blog posts, we are going to be coordinating with our shamanism blog, Shaman’s Blog. We are covering the individual chakras in that series.

The Stone People are very helpful in balancing our chakras and providing us specific energies that support our individual chakras, we will be covering some of the stones relevant to the major chakras.

We referenced a variety of stones for the root chakra in the blog Chakras 101 – The First or Root Chakra. Some gemstones often associated with this chakra are Garnet, Smoky Quartz, Obsidian, Black Tourmaline, Ruby, Bloodstone and Red Jasper.

As discussed in that blog post, the Root Chakra, is largely about survival and security issues. Therefore, most protection stones are related in some way to the root chakra.  Most red and black stones, as well as many brown and gray stones, are also related to the Root Chakra.

Chakras 101 – The First or Root Chakra

root-chakraToday we begin our exploration of each of the seven main chakras, starting with the first or root chakra.

The 1st Chakra, the Root Chakra, is also called Muladhara in Sanskrit. It is located at the base of the spine at the tailbone in back, and the pubic bone in front.

Key words for the root chakra are … survival, grounding, security, safety, support, individuality, and courage. Continue reading

Chakras 101 – Understanding Your Chakras

chakrasIt’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. Life here at Shaman’s Grove has been busy to say the least. Spring and Summer this year keep us busy (and tired) with many projects at the homestead. And of course Fall begins the preparations for winter. We’re not done yet, but the wood shed is full and most of the food preservation is complete, so I can hopefully find some time to catch up on my blogging.

We’re beginning an in depth series on the chakras. Over the next several blogs, we discuss each chakra individually, how it affects the mind, body and spirit, and suggestions for balancing and keeping each chakra healthy. This may be old hat to many of you, but it’s one of the things Gary and I find we explain most when working with clients that are beginning their healing/growth journey.

What Are Chakras and What Do They Do?
