How To Open Your Chakras – Explained By a Children’s Cartoon

CaptureWe are working and playing here in Phoenix this week and trying to catch a few rays. Unfortunately, the weather is cool, with intermittent rain and some sun.

This You-tube video came in through my Facebook page today and I thought it was great, and it falls right in with the Chakra 101 series we are doing. It’s from a children’s cartoon, The Last Airbender, so is pretty simple but definitely appeals to my inner child. It would also be great to explain the chakras to the little ones and a good reminder for us “wiser ones”. Continue reading

Chakras 101 – The Third or Solar Plexus Chakra

Solar-PlexusAs we continue our exploration of the chakras, we move up from the Navel Chakra to the Third or Solar Plexus Chakra. In the Solar Plexus, we move into our SELF – our place of self-confidence and personal power. The third chakra is known as the Manipura in Sanskrit and is located above the navel and below the sternum, directly in the stomach area.

Keywords for the solar plexus chakra are … SELF … identity, self-worth, self-esteem, confidence, self-respect, personal power, willpower, effectiveness, and gut instinct. Continue reading

Chakras 101 – The Second or Navel Chakra

NavelI can’t believe a month has gone by already. I’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on a project that should be unveiled next week (I hope), and it’s been keeping me pretty busy. But I promised that I would get the next chakra blog out this week, and it’s only Friday, so it’s still this week:-)

As we move on from the root chakra to the 2nd Chakra or Navel Chakra, we transition from survival (what we need to live as in the root chakra) to pleasure … play, joy, creativity, sexuality, nurturing and change. The second chakra is also referred to as the Sacral Chakra. In Sanskrit this chakra is called Svadisthana or Swadhisthanna.  It’s located about two inches below the navel and is rooted into the spine.

Key words for the navel chakra are … creativity, feelings, pleasure, vitality, sexuality, intimacy, emotional balance, change, joy and friendliness. Continue reading

Grab A Drum And Drum For Your Health

drumCirclepngI’m sneaking this blog in between the first and second chakra in the series. This article was forwarded to me by a friend, and it really does fit into the chakra series. How you ask…well read on.

Dave’s list is all the things that we tell folks at our drum circles, and I thought we’d pass it on. And why recreate the wheel – it’s a good article. So, with Dave’s permission here is his article on the benefits of drumming…

Chakras 101 – The First or Root Chakra

root-chakraToday we begin our exploration of each of the seven main chakras, starting with the first or root chakra.

The 1st Chakra, the Root Chakra, is also called Muladhara in Sanskrit. It is located at the base of the spine at the tailbone in back, and the pubic bone in front.

Key words for the root chakra are … survival, grounding, security, safety, support, individuality, and courage. Continue reading

Chakras 101 – Understanding Your Chakras

chakrasIt’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. Life here at Shaman’s Grove has been busy to say the least. Spring and Summer this year keep us busy (and tired) with many projects at the homestead. And of course Fall begins the preparations for winter. We’re not done yet, but the wood shed is full and most of the food preservation is complete, so I can hopefully find some time to catch up on my blogging.

We’re beginning an in depth series on the chakras. Over the next several blogs, we discuss each chakra individually, how it affects the mind, body and spirit, and suggestions for balancing and keeping each chakra healthy. This may be old hat to many of you, but it’s one of the things Gary and I find we explain most when working with clients that are beginning their healing/growth journey.

What Are Chakras and What Do They Do?

A Grounding Visualization

With the holidays here, life is CRAZY. All the activities, parties, family gatherings, food and frenzies (whether we participate in them or not) can knock us off our center. It’s not uncommon to find we simply aren’t grounded this time of year. So, today we’re going to talk about how to get grounded again.

This is one of the most common issues Gary and I find when working with clients. We frequently see their energy bodies floating away or above from their physical bodies, and/or the chakras at the base of their feet are closed.

The foot chakras, found on the sole of each foot, work in combination with the base or root chakra, to create a stable foundation for our physical existence. When they are open, the foot chakras provide a constant connection with the energy grids of Mother Earth to the rest of the chakras in our physical and energy bodies.

Many people see this energetic connection as their “roots”. Like a root system of a tree, these “roots” stabilize you so you aren’t carried away by what’s happening in the world around you. When you are grounded, you remain solidly in your body, you are able to respond appropriate way, staying in the now, letting the past be and trusting that the future will be even better.
