Playshops, Workshops & Events
We call our events "Playshops" because we feel we as a whole do not play enough. Gary and Debbie both have been accused of being "Heyókȟa"* (the sacred clown or contrary). We hold space for sacred play and every playshop has an element of humor and laughter (no matter how intense or deep the subject). When we play, we let go of some of our limitations and expectations. Basically, we "let our hair down", and when we are free, Spirit is free to move within us, creating light, change and healing.
*"The word Heyókȟa refers to the Lakota concept of a contrarian, jester, satirist or sacred clown. Heyókȟa are thought of as being backwards-forwards, upside-down, or contrary in nature. This spirit is often manifest by doing things backwards or unconventionally—riding a horse backwards, wearing clothes inside-out, or speaking in a backwards language. The Heyókȟa symbolize and portray many aspects of the sacred, the Wakȟáŋ. Their satire presents important questions by fooling around. They ask difficult questions, and say things others are too afraid to say.
